We have Dr Nigel will be joining us for 6 weeks during the Summer. He is starting on Monday the 9th of December and will be available 5 days a week.

Dr Nigel Humphreys BSc MB ChB (Auck) FACRRM trained in Auckland and is an inaugural (1996) Fellow of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine.

He and his partner Maria come to us from the small community of Injinoo, near Bamaga at the top of Cape York, a distance of approximately 4700Km, where Nigel has been working for the past 2 months.

Nigel has worked as a predominantly rural GP for about 40 years, initially in Batemans Bay NSW where he ran his own practice, and then based in Newcastle since the late 90’s. Since late 2018 he has been continuing to provide care for communities in rural and remote Australia as a GP locum, whilst still being based in Newcastle.

Since April, he has worked with the Girudula Community Co-operative GP practice in Bowen Qld, and at the NPA Family & Community Services General Practice at Injinoo.

Dr Humphreys enjoys working with patients of all ages, including children and older patients, and they seem to enjoy talking with him about their health, and appreciate the time and care that he offers. He also has particular experience with Workers Compensation.
