Shared Medical Appointments are back at CFP

Cygnet Family Practice is excited to announce that Shared Medical Appointments will recommence on Thursdays, from September 30th 2021 at 3pm-4:30pm. The first of four weekly sessions will be face to face and then the weekly sessions will be via teleconference from the comfort of your own home! We can help with setting you up to do these teleconferences from your home.
Shared medical appointments (SMAs) or group consultations, are consultations with your General Practitioner or other health professional in a supportive group atmosphere, where each patient’s needs are individually met, with the added benefit of hearing other’s lived experience.
This style of consultation has had remarkable results worldwide. This has been echoed in our experience as well. We had run a few shared medical appointments while we were at the Cygnet Community Health Centre. These were on quitting smoking and were very successful, and we would be happy to resume these sessions as well.
Dr Maureen Ryan and Nurse Chris Wilson will start with four sessions about Gaining Health. If you have access to the internet, and a computer or smart phone, you’ll be able to attend.
If you are keen to develop healthier and more nutritious choices, this session is for you! There will be a $15 out of pocket cost for each session. Places are limited.
Watch out for other sessions in coming weeks, or let us know if you would like to suggest a health concern for a Shared Medical Appointment.
Please call our friendly receptionists at Cygnet Family Practice on 6295 1460, or email reception@cygnetfamilypractice.com.au to register or find out more.
