COVID-19 Let’s be safe together

COVID-19 Vaccination Program Phase 1a

Safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines will soon be available in Australia. The vaccines will be free and voluntary for everyone in Australia. A staged rollout (phase 1a) of the vaccine is expected to commence mid-late February 2021 for those front-line workers who need the most protection. This includes frontline at-risk healthcare workers, quarantine and border workers, residential aged and disability care residents and workers.

Vaccinations will commend in general practice at a date to be confirmed, possibly March 2021. This vaccine will be free and voluntary for those adults over 70 years, all other health care workers, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, younger adults with an underlying medical condition, including those with a disability, and critical and high-risk workers including defence, police, fire, emergency services and meat processing.

Once these groups have been vaccinated, adults over 50 years, the balance of adult population, and people under 18 years will be offered the vaccine, if recommended.
